Barksdale AFB, just east of Shreveport, has one of the largest fleets of B-52’s in the U.S. Their base Information Officer had arranged for a B-52 crew to meet with our group and to give us a tour of their airplane.
Although the airframes were built in 1961/62, these are still active planes. One of the crew members told me that the current plan is to continue their deployment until 2045! There were dozens of B-52’s lined up for over a mile. The satellite picture below shows just a few of them.
